Swedish Massage is a very relaxing and therapeutic style of bodywork. It combines oils or lotion with an array of strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve its circulation.

It’s very easy to confuse the two. Swedish is more of a gentle relaxation massage with long, soothing strokes, but can be therapeutic in the sense that this is stress relieving.

When I perform Therapeutic massage, I use different modalities. I may incorporate deep tissue, trigger point therapy, stretches, etc. I’ll use a therapeutic approach to focus on specific areas, and some people may find this relaxing, hence the confusion.
